팬더믹 이후로 해외이든 미국내이든 여행도 줄고, 외식비도 많이 올라서 외식도 줄다보니 크레딧카드 중 거의 사용하지 않는 카드가 생기고 있다.
그중 하나가 체이스 프리덤 언리미티드(Chase Freedom Unlimited) 인데 아이 학비를 낼때 간혹 필요한 마일이 있으면 학비 지불 혹은 공과금 납부 용도로 사용했었다.
연회비도 없고 식비와 Drugstore에 x3 포인트, 그리고 나머지는 무조건 x1.5배를 주지만 식비에서 4포인트를 받는 카드가 있다보니 자주 사용을 안하게 되었다.
이에 카드 뒷면에 있는 커스토머 서비스에 전화할까 하다가 체이스 온라인에 로그인을 해서 시큐어 메세지(Secure Messages)로 카드를 더이상 사용하지 않으니 닫아달라는 내용의 메세지를 아주 간단하게 보냈다.
몇시간도 안되어 바로 아래와 같은 답장이 왔다.

온라인 상에는 벌써 카드가 closed 되었다는 메세지가 나온다.
이로써 해당 카드가 지불수단에 등록된 모든 쇼핑몰 사이트나 공과금 등을 체크하고 다른 카드로 등록하는 작업을 하였다.
그리고 카드를 닫은후 30일 이내에 체이스 UR 포인트가 남아있다면 다른 카드로 포인트를 옮겨야한다.
체이스는 아멕스와 다르게 포인트가 각각의 카드에 올라와 있다. 프리덤 카드로 모은 포인트는 항공사나 호텔로 전환이 안되기 때문에 체이스 은행의 사파이어 계열의 카드, 즉 사파이어 프리퍼드(CHASE SAPPHIRE PREFERRED)와 사파이어 리저브(CHASE SAPPHIRE RESERVE) 카드로 포인트를 보낸뒤 항공사, 호텔로의 전환을 해야만 한다.
혹은 비지니스 계정의 잉크 프리퍼드가 항공사, 호텔로의 전환이 된다.
